Hello! Welcome to my page! This post is just an introduction of who I
am, what I love and what I have to offer you, my reader. I am so excited to start this blog as yet
another creative outlet of mine and I am even more excited to engage with the
Great Big World and have you write back to me!
But, first, who
am I? My name is Melissa. I was not inflicted with the surname of
Muffins, but it is the nickname that has stuck with me for the last few years. I am currently doing my post-graduate studies
while I work two part-time jobs. So,
naturally, I decided that a blog would be a healthy addition to my
schedule.
I’ve always had
a strong creative streak that manifested in writing and drawing. I don’t write at all now (oh, wait!), but I
love to read. My bookcase is packed full
of fiction and non-fiction alike that I switch between as the mood takes
me. You may find an occasional post
about a book I’ve read here, but I like particularly “boring” books like
religious and political history books.
I’ll take care not to drive you away with posts about those books.
Of late, I’ve
been using makeup as my creative outlet.
I spend a large portion of my time watching YouTube makeup videos and
then practice on myself over the weekends.
I’d like to say I’ve been fairly successful and my passion for the
subject has grown. I will definitely be
posting some makeup looks, tutorials and reviews here in the future and plan to
start my own YouTube channel in the future (when there are possibly 29 hours in
a day!). Obviously, as a follow on, I
don’t put on a full face of makeup and then wear my pajamas (though I will
neither confirm nor deny that this has taken place). Fashion is also a very important part of my
life and I plan to post a heap of #ootd posts, though I find that I’m more
likely to spend all of my money on makeup before I buy clothes.
I love going to
the gym. That being said, I will
probably die first in the zombie apocalypse because cardio sucks. I lift.
The love of my life introduced me to weightlifting quite soon after we
started dating near the end of 2012 and I have never looked back. There is nothing quite as empowering as
deadlifting more than your bodyweight, or asking a grown man if he’s done with
the 10kg dumbbells that you’re about to curl.
I’m not a personal trainer in any shape or form, so I will not advise
you on any particular exercises or plans, but I’ll gladly show you what I can
do.
I should make it
perfectly clear that I am not an expert on any of these subjects and I will
never pretend to be. Everything I know
has been learnt through practise, practise, practise. If you don’t like something you see or have a
better way of doing it, please be kind.
This process is a learning process for me, so criticisms are most
welcome if you’re going to be constructive.
Follow me on
Instagram @justcallmemuffins. I post my
makeup looks, a whole lot of selfies, gym selfies and some photos of my
personal life too (I think my boyfriend is the most gorgeous person on the
planet; I just can’t help it!). I’m
currently working on my Facebook page and Twitter handle.
Thank you for
visiting my page and I hope to see you back soon!
