Coral Love - Valentine's Makeup

If we’re talking romance, I can guarantee your mind instantly shifts to soft pinks, deep reds, warm sunsets, long walks on the beach... At least, mine does.

That’s why I decided that my makeup look for my Valentine’s date night (in my previous post) had to be a soft pink/coral look.  Except, I don’t own eyeshadows in those colours.  Yes, I have the Essence Roses palette, but the pinks in that palette were far too soft for the coral colour I wanted and let’s be honest, we just don’t all have the money to run out and buy the makeup we needed for the look we’re inspired to create every single time.

Thus, I learnt a valuable lesson in repurposing makeup.  That’s right, I created an entire eye look without using a single eyeshadow.  I love coral blushes, especially those peachy pink ones that make you look positively glowing.  I mean, they’re little equally pigmented powders.  Why not run that stunning brown-toned pink through your crease for your transition shade? And that was the birth of my look.

I’ll skim through the rest of my face quickly with a quick product breakdown:
Face:
·         Catrice Prime and Fine beautifying primer
·         Catrice Even Skin Tone beautifying foundation in “010 Even Vanilla”
·         Essence Mattifying translucent powder
·         Benefit Hoola bronzer
·         Catrice blush palette “CorAll I need” – I used the peach blush on the far right
·         Colourpop Smokin’ Whistles highlight (under my brow bone too)

Brows:
·         Essence brow pencil in brown
Lips:
·         Kylie Cosmetics “Kristin”

For my eyes, I used the Smashbox blush palette in “LA Lights – Culver City Coral” (I don’t know how much this is; I got it as a gift) and the Catrice blush palette in “CorAll I need” (about R90).
Note: I’m just going to say first, second and third shades (from left to right) since none of them have names.

I started by applying some of the first shade of the Smashbox palette into my crease because it looks like it has a brownish-tone to it that would ground the other brighter shades.  It was a smidge too dark so I used some of the highlight shade, the third shade, from the same palette to blend it out lightly just on my brow bone.  I also smudged the same first shade below my lower lash line.

I then added some of the second shade to the same crease area to brighten up the pink.  I also worked this further down onto my lid and applied it beneath my lower lash line to intensify the pink.  With the same purpose, I added some of the first shade from the Catrice palette to the same area.

Using my finger, I dabbed some of the third shade from the Catrice palette (and my favourite) to the centre of my lid.  I am in love with this shimmery peach shade and wear it all the time.  After blending out the edges, I found I had to reapply some of the peach shade to intensify it.

Along my lower waterline, I used an Essence long lasting eye pencil in the shade “Hi-lite”, a stunning pearl-pink that opens up your eyes completely.  I lined my upper waterline and the very edge of my lashes on my eyelid with “Black fever”, of the same range.  The mascara I used was my Ride-or-Die Essence Lash Princess False Lash effect mascara and, for a little extra drama, I put on some Eylure lashes in No. 143 Exaggerate.

While I never apply makeup for Julian’s sake (mostly because I’m a strong, independent woman, partly because he’s more of a casual look kind of person), even he couldn’t deny how much he liked this look on me.  I will definitely be reusing this look in the future because coral eyes are my new everything – when it comes to eye looks.

Wishing you all the love and light in the universe, until next time ♡♡♡
