Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation review

I swear that I actually am working on blog stuff.  It’s just near impossible to upload because good WiFi is hard to come by these days. But to be honest, I've really been enjoying not having a heap of responsibilities that actually weren't mine to bear in the first place too, so...

What have I been up to in the past few months? I’m Tindering like a machine and meeting some of the nicest/weirdest people ever.  I obviously have my favourites but that’s better left off the internet ;)  There are heaps of exciting things going on at the moment, but I’ve decided to keep this beauty related and tell you about my most recent discovery that has changed my life.

As someone with oily skin, you would think I was all over the matte trend in foundations.  Not so.  Ever since my Catrice foundation (the Even skintone beautifying one – I don’t recall the exact name) was discontinued, I have been desperately searching for the perfect dewy/satin finish foundation.

Enter stage right: Clinique Even Better Glow foundation.

Is it drugstore? No.  Is it with every single cent? Definitely.  I cannot even describe how in love I am with this foundation.  In terms of its name, it delivers exceptionally well.  In fact, on a Tinder date a week ago, my date told me that I was “absolutely radiant” – his words, not mine.  (He also told me that my laughter reminded him of sunshine and I almost forsook all common sense to go back to Australia with him, but that’s a story for yet another day).

Packaging
The foundation comes in a little oval bottle and contains 30ml of product, as per usual. It’s also blush pink, so it suits every millennial dressing table.  While I personally prefer a pump on my foundations, I don’t mind the squeezy bottle and can squeeze a blob directly onto my sponge for application.  Also, it’s still better than the bottles that you pour product out and the droppers.  I really don’t like those.

Formula
The formula of this foundation is a fairly runny consistency, but blends very easily.  One of the biggest drawing cards is that it has SPF15, so it’s perfect for summer days.  (Just remember to touch up with an SPF face mist later in the day or after swimming).  The finish, like I said, is ultra glowy and dewy and it does not cake at all, in my experience.  Because of its light/medium coverage, I’ve layered it over problem areas like my under eyes and it did not get cakey or patchy through the day.

Coverage
I would describe this as a medium coverage foundation.  I judge it by how pale my mole gets on my cheek, because my freckles are too faint to use as a measure for coverage.  Also, I have to use a concealer with this foundation for my undereye circles because the coverage is not sufficient.
That being said, if I want to pump up the coverage for a night out, I use the Even Better Glow foundation mixed with Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation.  It’s a fairly easy solution for a negligible problem, in my opinion.

Length of wear
During my first test of this foundation, I wore it without a primer or setting spray, and it lasted for most of the day (approximately 9/10 hours) with some patchiness around my jawline and under my nose where my septum ring is.  This, however, is mostly expected from transfer during the course of the day.
Under normal circumstances, when I do a full face of makeup, I generally need it to last the whole day because I go out straight after work.  So when I wear this, I prime and set it with some Fix+ and it drastically extends the length of wear of the foundation.

In conclusion, this foundation is officially my new favourite.  I love the way it looks on my skin and I love the fact that it not only makes your skin look great, it also protects it during the day.  If you’re on the market for a foundation that’s not so drugstore but not so luxury, I highly recommend this one.

Also, I know that I’m Clinique’s Number One Fan, but I will literally never get over the amazing quality of their skincare and foundations.  So maybe this is slightly biased, but if you don’t believe me, just go get a sample from a Clinique counter to try out for a week and see for yourself.

Wishing you love and light ♡♡♡
